Zoo closure for women on Eid

KARACHI, Dec 19: The city zoo had been out of bound for women for the three days of Eid — Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The zoo authorities said the measure was put in place to save families from inconvenience because of the Eid rush. This step is taken on the occasion of both Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.

Normally, Wednesdays are reserved for women and children, and men even if accompanied with families are not allowed in whereas all weekdays are family days when male members are allowed to enter the zoo with females.

On Sundays and all holidays, too, only men are allowed to enter the zoo.

Since there is an exceptional rush of men, mainly belonging to illiterate section of society, it has become difficult for the authorities to provide proper security to girls and women on Eid holidays.
