Europeans’ leisure habits vary: study
BRUSSELS, Dec 19: The Swedes spend more of their money than any other EU nationality on fun, the Portuguese spend most eating out and the British spend the most time glued to the TV, according to a study released Wednesday by Eurostat, the EU’s statistics branch.
The study showed the Swedes spend 14.6 per cent of their household budgets on culture and leisure time activities, and the Portuguese only 3.7 per cent.
The Portuguese, however, spend 8.9 per cent of their budgets in restaurants, whereas the Italians spend only 3.1 per cent of their available cash on such pursuits.
The study, produced by Eurostat and the European Commission, is labelled as “An essential instrument in better understanding the behaviour of EU consumers.”—AFP
