Dentist races to complete book before dying

SINGAPORE, Dec 19: A Singapore dentist told she had terminal cancer spent the last 44 days of her life in a race to finish a book on orthodontics before she died.

On morphine and attached to drips, Goh Gek Kiow mustered enough strength to sit at a computer and illustrate the work, completing it in three days before she died.

The book, “Papa, I Want to Have Braces!” was launched on Monday hours after the 45-year-old Goh was cremated.

Using a simple text and comics, the book deals with orthodontics, a branch of dentistry dealing with straightening of teeth.—dpa
