Nation told to help set up tolerant society

ISLAMABAD, Dec 16: President General Pervez Musharraf has said that by following the golden principles of Islam we can curb the negative trends of sentimentalism, extremism, hatred, violence and sectarianism.

In his Eid-ul-Fitr message to the nation, the President called upon the people to work for the establishment of a society based on the Islamic concept of tolerance, where every individual considers himself as an equal citizen.

“Let us resolve today that we will offer every sacrifice for the attainment of the goal of Pakistan’s prosperity and national prestige.

He said: “While expressing our gratefulness to the bounties and blessings of Allah Almighty on this auspicious occasion, we must not forget that the real joys of Eid lie in sharing it with our kith and kin, neighbours and above all the needy people of the society.”

General Musharraf has greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Eid saying “it is a special benevolence of Allah Almighty that He has blessed us with happiness of Eid once again.”—APP
