LAHORE, Dec 14: The Christian National Front has described a reported statement of Mr S K Tresslor as a conspiracy against the government in which the federal minister had expressed himself in favour of introducing a religion’s column in National Identity Card and retaining the Section 295-C.
Front’s chairman Akram Gill and president Salim Gabriel Bhatti in a joint statement issued here on Friday said that the minister had injured the sentiments of the members of the Christian community by making such assertions. The minister, they added, had also held the views that the Christians in Pakistan were enjoying equal rights.
The CNF leaders reminded the minister that it were the Christians who had launched a long countrywide struggle against the inclusion of religion’s column in the national identity card through which the holder was only to be identified as a Pakistani.
