KARACHI, Dec 14: Bandits shot two men to death in the city on Friday.
Motorcycle hijackers shot a young man to death in Ranchhore Line. The police said that bandits tried to hijack a motorcycle from Malick Mohammed, aged 25, outside an eating-house in Ranchhore Line. As he tried to put up resistance to the bandits, they shot him and fled the scene.
Malick was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The police had no clue about the number of the hijackers.
Bandits shot dead an elderly in his home on Jehnagir Road. The police said that four bandits barged into the house of Qamar Ali, aged 60, in Jahangir Road West, held the man and his wife as hostage at gunpoint and began collecting valuables. As Qamar Ali tried to put up resistance to the bandits, they shot him and escaped. Qamar Ali’s wife, Shahnaz Begum, was wounded in the firing.
Qamar Ali was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
ROAD ACCIDENTS: A young man died in a road accident near Al- Asif Square before Iftar on Friday.
The police said that Sher Zaman, aged 28, a security guard, was run over by a minibus of route D-7 while walking a cross the busy road in front of Al-Asif Square. The minibus sped away after the accident.
Sher Zaman, hailing from Bajor Agency, was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
A three-year-old boy died and his sister was injured when they were hit by a water tanker of the Pakistan Rangers in Saeedabad.
The police said that Bobby and his sister Rukhsana were injured when they were hit by a water tanker of the Pakistan Rangers (K-3456) at Saadullah Goth in Sector-2 in Saeedabad.
They were rushed to a private hospital from where they were referred to Civil Hospital where doctors declared the boy dead on arrival.
ROBBERIES: Six robberies were committed in the city on Friday, the police said.
Bandits barged into a house in Orangi Town and looted cash at gunpoint.
Dacoits robbed a shopkeeper, Jameel, of cash when he was on his way after withdrawing cash from a bank in PECHS.
Bandits robbed a shopkeeper, Abdul Rahim, of cash in Gadap. The bandits shot and wounded the shopkeeper when he offered resistance to them. He was taken to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre.
Dacoits robbed a shopkeeper, Mohammed Ishaq, of cash and valuables in Mithadar.
Bandits barged into the house of Chiragh Deen in Shah Faisal Colony and looted cash and valuables.
Dacoits robbed Ali Hasan of cash and valuables in Steel Town.
CARJACKING: Twelve vehicles — five cars and seven motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, the police said.
The cars were hijacked in Garden, Tipu Sultan, Aziz Bhatti, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, and Taimuria.
Five motorcycles were hijacked in Ferozabad, Sir Syed Town, North Nazimabad, Sir Syed Town, and Buffer Zone. Two others were stolen in Arambagh and Frere.
GANG BUSTED: The police busted a seven-member gang of car hijackers in Gulzar-i-Hijri on Friday and recovered a sizable quantity of arms from their possession.
Those arrested have been identified as Mohammed Ashfaq, Qadir Bakhsh, Ghulam Fareed, Rasheed Ahmed, Niaz Ahmed, Rafiq Ahmed, and Saai Bakhsh.
The police said that most of the suspects have served jail terms.
The SHO Gulzar-i-Hijri said that the ring leader, Imtiaz Shaikh, was still absconding.
The gang sold off stolen and hijacked vehicles in the interior of Sindh. The police recovered two motorcycles, six pistols, one repeater gun and one carbine from their possession.
