Napp to convene Jirga after Eid

Published December 14, 2001

NOWSHERA, Dec 13: National Awami Party Pakistan (Napp) will convene a Jirga after Eidul Fitr to discuss the situation and setup of a broad-based government in Afghanistan, party president Ajmal Khattak said on Thursday talking to newsmen here.

He stated that the United States government was planning to target tribesmen after Afghanistan.

America was making efforts to bring Afghan warring factions and groups to negotiation table to agree them on a peace formula, but in vain.

He said that after the removal of Taliban government Afghanistan was being governed by warlords.

Mr Khattak said foreign intervention was the root-cause of Afghanistan’s division in various ethnic groups.
