Training camp concludes

LAHORE, Dec 11: The first phase of the national football training camp concluded at the Model Town Block C ground on Tuesday.

The camp was in progress since Nov 20 to finalise Pakistan team for two international competitions. Pakistan Senior team will take part in the SAF Gold Cup to be held at Dhaka from Jan 25 to Feb 4. Pakistan under-23 team will take part in the ninth SAF Games scheduled to be held at Islamabad in March-April, 2002. Both the teams will be picked from the probables of the camp.

In all, 41 probables were attending the camp which have been shortlisted to 28 for the second phase which will commence from Dec 23.

Following probables will report for the second phase:

Jaffar Khan, Amir Shahzad, Mohammad Riaz, Zahoor Ahmad, Ihsanullah (Army), Arif Mahmood, Khuda Bakhsh, Zulifqar, Tanvir Ahmad, Irshad (Wapda), Haroon Yousaf, Qadeer, Gohar Zaman, Nauman Ibraheem,  Asadullah Tariq (ABL), Sajjad, Sarfraz Rasool (KRL), Shahid Salim, Sameen Ibraheem (HBL), Adeel, Shahid Ahmad (PTCL), Lal Bakhsh, Fareed Mujahid, Naseer, Shakir Taj, KPT), Ibraheemullah, Arshad (PAF), Zahid Taj (NBP).

Meanwhile, the FIFA representative to Pakistan for the Goal Project Manilal Fernando arrived here from Delhi on Tuesday.

FIFA has allotted an amount of $ 4,00,000 to Pakistan under the Goal Project. The FIFA representative will discuss the matters related to projects made by the Pakistan Football Federation for receiving the grant.
