National wrestling from Jan 11

LAHORE, Dec 11: The National Wrestling Championship 2001-2002 will be held at Multan from Jan 11 to 13, 2002.

Nine teams, including four provincials and five departmental, will take part in the championship. Army, Wapda, Railways, UGC and Police are the departmental teams of the championship.

The Pakistan Wrestling Federation secretary Chaudhary Mohammad Arif told Dawn that the championship was scheduled to be held in December this year, but the Multan Division Wrestling Association (MDWA) which is hosting the event, had failed to make the necessary arrangements which put off the competition till next month.

The MDWA  president  Chaudhary Iftikhar Ahmad has been appointed as chairman of the organising committee.

The competitions will be held in eight weight categories including 48, 58, 63, 68, 74, 62, 90 and upto 130 kgs.

The PWF secretary said that all the affiliated  units  would send maximum eight members team. The PWF secretary further said that the Rustam-i-Pakistan bout will be held at Lahore on Feb 2, 2002.
