Hospital lacks staff, equipment

By Our Correspondent

MANSEHRA, Dec 11: Due to the shortage of specialist doctors and paramedics in the ENT and dental sections of the District Headquarter Hospital, Mansehra, patients are not getting proper attention and treatment, staff told Dawn.

According to some patients there are only two doctors and one paramedic in the dental and ENT OPD to see the 300 patients daily who come from remote areas like Batgram, Balakot, Oghi and Mansehra districts.

They said that in spite of being a teaching hospital it has no adequate equipment and facilities. Even for minor operation patients have to travel to Abbottabad or other parts of the country.

A doctor said that they were doing their best in treating the patients. He said most patients demanded free medicines but the stocks were limited.
