KARACHI, Dec 11: The elections of 32 committees of the Karachi City Government will be held on Dec 27, 29 and 31 and Jan 2, 3, 2002 in the City Council Hall.
According to the election schedule, the nomination papers will be received on Dec 22 at the council secretariat from 9am to 2pm and scrutiny will be held on Dec 24 from 10am to 12noon in the office of Naib Nazim.
The nomination papers could be withdrawn on Dec 26 from 10am to 12noon in the Council Secretariat.
According to a city government announcement, the elections will be held in five Council sessions.
The first session will be held on Dec 27 at 9.30am and the second session on Dec 29, the third on Dec 30 and the fourth and fifth sessions will be held on Jan 2 and 3 at the same timing.
WHEAT BAGS: The City Government will distribute 8,820 bags of wheat of 100kg worth Rs750,000 among deserving people as Ramazan package.
In this regard, a meeting of Town Nazims and Town Municipal Officers was held under the chairmanship of Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan Khan which was told that the Sindh government had provided 8,820 bags of wheat to the City Government so that it was provided to poor people through the elected representatives.
He said 48 bags would be distributed in the jurisdiction of every union council.
The Naib Nazim said the elected representatives should ensure that this Ramazan packages reached the genuine people. He said the distribution work be started on Wednesday.
Later, the bags were distributed among Town Nazims as per requirement of each union council. They will get delivery of the same from the Sindh Government godown in Landhi.—APP
