HYDERABAD, Dec 10: The vice chancellor, University of Sindh, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui has stressed upon the scholars to make new discoveries in their research work and added that the research on prominent personalities who had rendered valuable services in different fields would provide guidance to youth and new scholars.

He was presiding over a PhD seminar on biography of Sheikh Mohammad Hayat Sindhi, his religious services and research review on his writings in the faculty of Islamic Studies in Jamshoro on Monday.

The vice chancellor said that the work and services of the prominent scholars must be communicated to the coming generations and scholars through authentic research.

Mr Siddiqui appreciated the research work of Mangrio Rafiq Ahmed Bazeedpuri and congratulated him for his successful presentation on a Sindhi religious scholar who rendered valuable services to Islamic education in Hijaz in 12th century Hijri.

The research scholar said in his presentation that Sheikh Mohammad Hayat Sindhi was a master in the subject of Hadees and a great scholar of Islam. He added that Sheikh Sindhi was a Muhaddis and Mujtahid of higher calibre.

Mr Mangrio said that he struggled all his life for spreading Islamic teachings in Hijaz area and other parts of the world.

He said that it was for the first time that research work had been undertaken on Shaikh Mohammad Hayat Sindhi.

He said that his research work was spread over 12 chapter and 500 pages. He said that for the life history of the scholar, he recorded the interviews of intellectuals and referred many books.

He said that Sheikh Mohammad Hayat Sindhi was the author of about 45 important books in Arabic on different aspects of Islamic education.

He said that he imparted Islamic education in Madina for about 24 years, died in 1163 Hijri and was buried in Jannat-ul-Baqieh.

The seminar was attended by Allama Ghulam Mustafa Qasimi, the guide of the scholar, Dr Mumtaz Bhutto, dean, faculty of Islamic Studies and other scholars of University of Sindh who also expressed their views on the thesis.

VISIT: The vice chancellor on Monday paid surprise visits to the institute of Business Administration (IBA), departments of Zoology, Fine Arts, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and Economics and checked the arrangements for the ongoing first semester examinations.

Meanwhile the examinations in the 16 examination centres of the university were held in a peaceful manner. The university authorities have adopted tight security steps at the campus.
