HYDERABAD, Dec 10: The acting president, JSQM, Shafi Karnani, its general secretary, Shabbir Jamali, and others claimed that in order to keep the Sindhi people backward, they were being deprived of educational facilities and employment opportunities.

They said that the agricultural sector of Sindh was being destroyed by stealing Indus water and the royalty from its natural and mineral resources was being pocketed by Punjab.

They said this while addressing the party congress of Badin District at Matli on Monday.

Under the circumstances, they said, it fell to the lot of JSQM activists to spread the message of late G.M. Syed from door to door and ask the people to join the struggle for the liberation and prosperity of Sindh.

The JSQM leaders demanded that the import of outsiders by the multinational oil companies for employment at Qadir gas field, Mari gas, Pak-Saudi fertilizers, Liberty power plant, LASMO gas field Dadu and other oil and gas fields should be stopped forthwith and appointment should be given only to the local people.

They further demanded that a 1,000 acres of agricultural land of Obaro taluka which had been transferred to Punjab should be returned to Sindh.

They warned Punjab army personnel to stop taking over the possession of land belonging to Sindh.

They said that any conspiracy to transfer the dehs of Sindh to Punjab would be strongly resisted.

They demanded that JSQM chairman, Bashir Khan Qureshi, and other party activists be released immediately.

TJP: The provincial secretary general, Tahreek-i-Jaffria Pakistan (TJP), Shafi M. Pitafi said that under no circumstances the struggle for the liberation of Bait-ul-Makdas be given up as it was a matter of self-respect for the entire Muslim world.

He was addressing a news conference at the Qadamgah Maula Ali on Monday evening.

He condemned the inhuman atrocities unleashed by Israel against the Palestinians saying that the streets of Palestine were littered with the bodies of martyrs.

He said the need of the hour was that the Muslim Ummah should rise to the occasion and support the oppressed Muslims of Palestine.

He said that under special instructions from the TJP chief, the party would hold rallies, meetings and processions throughout Pakistan on Jumma-tul-Wida on Dec 14 to express solidarity with the people of Palestine and for the liberation of Bait-ul-Maqdas.

He said the central procession will be taken out from Qadamgah Maula Ali after Jumma prayers which will terminate at the Hyderabad press club.

He said the leaders of all schools of thought will address the rally.

The other TJP leaders who were present on the occasion included Allama Altaf Hussain Al-Hussaini, Allama Muzaffar Hussain Shah Musvi, Nizam Haider Al-Haideri, Mirza Kazim Raza Baig, and Abdul Ghaffar Subhopoto.
