Offer to help rebuild Afghanistan

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Dec 7: The Balochistan government is ready to participate in the reconstruction of Afghanistan by placing its human and material resources at the disposal of the federal government.

A senior minister of the Balochistan, Agha Abdul Qadir Baluch, stated this, while talking to Dawn at his office on Thursday.

He said the province had a long border with Afghanistan, starting from areas close to Zahidan and ending in the federally-administrated tribal areas in Waziristan, giving bright prospects to Pakistani builders to reconstruct the neighbouring country.

The provincial government would cooperate with all concerned, retaining durable peace and calm all along the borders with Afghanistan, he said, adding that the people of Balochistan had a traditional relations with their Afghan brethren.

The minister said the province would be waiting for instructions from Islamabad for placing its resources at the disposal of technocrats and experts if engaged in rebuilding Afghanistan.
