LAHORE, Dec 6: An excellent field goal in fifth chukker by Ahmad Nawaz helped Millat Tractors narrowly beat Cherat Cement 8-7 after both sides were tied at 7-7 at the end of stipulated four chukkers in the Local polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Thursday.
In another match of the day, Mustafa Tiwana struck five times to bolster Ejaz Spinning to a comfortable win over Guard Rice by 11-6 1/2.
Kamran Nooruddin drew first blood for Millat Tractors by scoring a field goal at start of the first chukker. Faaiz Rahim Khan scored two back-to-back field goals to earn a 2-1 lead for Cherat Cement before end of this chukker. His second goal was scored with a back-hander.
Honours were shared during the second chukker as both sides struck once each. Ahmad Nawaz scored a field goal for Millat Tractors while Shah Qublai Alam scored first of his three goals on a 60 yards penalty-hit for Cherat Cement. The latter side led 3-2 at end of the second chukker.
Cherat Cement scored three and Millat Tractors two goals during third chukker. Malik Atif Yar Tiwana scored first of his three goals on a 40 yards penalty-hit, which was Millat Tractors’ third goal. Qublai scored a field goal for Cherat Cement. Kamran Nooruddin also scored a field goal for Millat Tractors. Agha Murtaza scored two back-to-back goals to further increase Cherat Cement’s lead to 6-4.
Millat Tractors came back into the game by scoring three goals as against one by Cherat Cement to even the score 7-7 before fourth chukker ended. Adnan Lone converted a spot penalty near the goalpost for Millat Tractors. Qublai converted a 30 yards penalty-hit for Cherat Cement. Atif scored two back-to-back goals to bring Millat Tractors at par with the opposing side. Atif scored on a spot penalty near the goalpost and then converted a 30 yards penalty-hit.
The match had to be extended to the fifth chukker and goalposts widened to reach at a decision. Ahmad Nawaz scored a field goal which separated the two teams.

Guard Rice enjoyed one-and-a-half goals’ advantage on the handicap and put in five goals during play. Ejaz Spinning struck eleven times to gain an easy win in this match.

Both teams struck once, each during the second chukker. Ashfaq scored a 30 yards penalty-hit for Ejaz Spinning while Shahzad Aziz scored a brilliant field goal for Guard Rice to make the score 4 1/2-3.
Shahzad Aziz scored at start of third chukker by converting a 30 yards penalty-hit. Ashfaq scored two back-to-back goals for Ejaz Spinning. After scoring a field goal, he scored on a 60 yards penalty-hit. Taimur Malik scored for Guard Rice on a spot penalty near the goalpost. Asad Hayat scored a field goal for Ejaz Spinning to give it a 7-5 1/2 lead.
During the fourth chukker, Ejaz Spinning scored four goals as against one by Guard Rice. Mustafa Tiwana alone scored three field goals while Asad Hayat converted a 30 yards penalty-hit for Ejaz Spinning. The only goal of the Guard Rice team was scored by Taimur Malik on a field effort.
