KARACHI: Traffic arrangements for today


KARACHI, Dec 6: The Karachi police in coordination with the local administration have made arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic on Yaum-i-Ali, Friday, says a press release of the Central Police office.

Since on Ramazan 21 a procession would be brought out from Nishter Park at 3pm and it would adopt different routes via Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, again M.A.Jinnah Road, Boulton Market and Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road to reach Hussainiyan Iranian in Kharadar, alternative arrangements for traffic have been made accordingly.

The press release said that on the day of martyrdom of Hazrat Ali, as soon as the procession would commence from Nishter Park all traffic flow from the city side would be diverted onto Bahadur Yar Jang Road from the junction of M.A.Jinnah Road/Dr Daudpota Road.

All traffic on Bahadur Yar Jang Road from its junction with Daudpota Road up to its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road (old Britto Road) will flow one way.

Meanwhile, all buses, minibuses, coaches, trucks coming from the Nazimabad side will be diverted onto Nishtar Road towards the Zoological Garden.

All buses and public vehicles approaching from Liaquatabad will be diverted onto Marston Road, towards the Central jail side. These vehicles will, however, be permitted to proceed up to the jail and then proceed further via Jamshed Road on to junctions of Dadabhoy Nauroji Road and Kashmir Road, Shahrah-i-Quaideen and to Gora Qabristan.

The very traffic coming from Liaquatabad while reaching Gora Qabristan Chowrangi via Sharea Faisal may further proceed via Mubarak Shaheed Road to Iqbal Shaheed Road to Lucky Star/Sarwar Shaheed Road, Dr Daudpota Road, Preedy Street onto their normal route.

As the head of procession would reach the junction of M.A.Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street these vehicles would proceed straight towards 603, EMS workshop, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road/Fatima Jinnah Road/Stratchen Road, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road and M.A.Jinnah Road. The traffic flow may also be diverted to I.I.Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road/Stratchen Road.

All heavy traffic approaching from Saddar will be diverted to Dadabhoy Nauroji Road towards Kashmir Road via Jutland Line.

Traffic from the Super Highway side will be diverted from AL- Azam Square towards Nazimabad Chowrangi and will proceed along Hakim Ibne Sina Road, Shershah, Estate Avenue Road and Mauripur Road.

Those approaching from the National Highway will move via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleiman Road, Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2 to Hakim Ibne Sina Road, Estate Avenue Road and Mauripur Road. For their return journey the same route would be utilized.

It has been reminded that no traffic mobility would be allowed to proceed towards the route of procession and from the Guru Mandir roundabout, the vehicles will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jung Road and further towards Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road and shall proceed via Nishter Road.

All the traffic coming from the Mazar-i-Quaid side along M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road and no vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards old exhibition under any condition, the press release said.

All vehicular traffic approaching to and from Old Exhibition via Shahrah-i-Quaideen, except those intending to participate in the procession and stickers pasted on their windscreen issued by the Central Police Office, will be required to proceed via the roundabout behind the Mazar-i-Quaid.

The traffic moving towards Saddar and other colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junctions of Preedy Street/Sarmad Road, Preedy Street/M.A.Jinnah Road, Sharah-i-Liaquat/Mohammad bin Qasim Road. As the procession will reach the crossing of M.A.Jinnah Road, the Mansfield Street Junction would be closed.

No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A.Jinnah Road from the junctions of M.A.Jinnah Road/Preedy Street when the procession comes close to the intersection.

The vehicular traffic on Aga Jhan Road from the Zoological Gardens shall not be permitted to proceed towards M.A.Jinnah Road, Aga Khan Road and Randall Road near the Anklesaria Hospital.

The traffic on Marston Road shall move one way. No vehicle would also be permitted to park along the routes of the procession.—APP
