SIALKOT, Dec 5: Eleven more houses were ruined and two goats were killed in firing by Indian troops on bordering villages in Chhumb, Joriyaan, Bajwat, Harpal, Bajrangarhi, Chaprar, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Akhnor, Oori and Shakargarh sectors of the Sialkot working boundary.
Officials sources said on Wednesday that Chenab Rangers had foiled two more major Indian attempts of fencing near the working boundary’s Chhumb and Jammu sectors, causing a heavy defensive loss to the enemy.
The firing between Chenab Rangers and the Indian troops was continuing along the working boundary till the filing of this report late in the evening.
ARRESTED: Pasrur police on Wednesday claim to have arrested an inter-district gang of dacoits and recovered a huge quantity of illicit arms and ammunition from their possession.
Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, SSP Muhammad Tahir said the Maaju gang was wanted by the Sialkot, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Narowal and Lahore police in various cases of dacoity, robbery, murder, kidnap for ransom and other heinous crimes.
He said outlaws, including Aadil and Azhar, had received a handsome amount as ransom from Lahore CIA SP Aslam Sahi for the release of his kidnapped nephew.
He said three policemen had also lost their lives in an encounter with the lawbreakers in Narang Mandi (Sheikhupura) sometime ago.
Maaju, the ring leader, had already been killed in a shootout with the police, he added.
Further investigation is under way.
