TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 5: Under its self-planned education promotion programme, the district government on Wednesday appointed 1,052 ad hoc teachers and lecturers in the government primary, middle, high schools and colleges across the district.

The district council had approved the programme on the proposal of district Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq in its budget session in September.

Under the scheme, fees of Rs5, Rs10 and Rs20 had been imposed on all students of the government primary, middle and high schools and colleges, respectively, while the needy and poor students were exempted from it.

The income generated from the fees was to be spent on the salaries of ad hoc teachers and lecturers. The salary of primary teachers was proposed to be Rs1,000 per month, middle-high school teachers Rs1,500 a month and college lecturers Rs2,000 a month.

A Press release issued by the information department on Wednesday stated whenever regular appointments would be made, preference would be given to ad hoc teachers.

It said that all teachers had been posted in schools nearest to their residences.

CONDEMNED: The forcible expulsion of Nusrat Shahbaz and her daughters have been condemned.

In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, PML-N central leader M. Hamza said the decision to expel women of the Sharif family was taken at the beck and call of president Pervez Musharraf who had a personal enmity.

He termed the action a sheer violation of human rights as the women were citizens of Pakistan.
