Two soldiers killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Dec 4: A suicide squad of the Lashkar-i-Taiba attacked an Indian army camp in occupied Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least two soldiers.

Three Mujahideen from the Lashkar-i-Taiba died in the fighting that followed the attack in Bagatpora, Kupwara district, a police statement said. A Lashkar spokesman, however, said it had killed six Indian soldiers.

The attack was the latest in a series of suicide assaults this year on the Indian army in occupied Kashmir.

Killings have risen in the held state since the beginning of Ramazan. According to daily police bulletins more than 225 people, mostly Mujahideen, have been killed in the first 18 days of Ramazan.—Reuters
