KG Whites in last four
KARACHI, Dec 4: Hosts Karachi Gymkhana Whites joined KESC in the semifinals of the Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan cricket festival after recording a four-wicket victory over Ideal CC at KG Ground here Tuesday.
Zahid Ghori top-scored with 48 off 41 balls to help Ideal CC reach 177 for seven in their 25 overs. Opener Mohammad Rizwan slammed 34 off 21 deliveries with three fours and two sixes.
Former international Iqbal Sikander bowled well to claim two for 18 in five overs. Medium-pacer Adnan Sohail and slow left-armer Uzair Usman also took two wickets each, conceding 35 and 38 runs respectively.
Man-of-the-Match Ali Jaffar stroked 54 off 53 balls with the aid of five boundaries as Karachi Gymkhana Whites reached 178 for six in 24.1 overs.
Opener Azhar Khan had earlier hammered 40 off just 19 balls, including five fours and two sixes.
On Monday, blistering unbeaten centuries by Tariq Haroon and skipper Arif Mahmood laid foundation of a crushing KESC victory by 162 runs over Aftab Memorial.
Batting first, KESC piled up 281 for two in their allotted 25 overs, largely due to the unbroken third wicket partnership of 174 between Tariq and Arif.
Tariq stroked 103 off 64 balls with the aid of 16 fours and one six while Arif blasted 18 fours and one in his 108 off just 53 deliveries.
Earlier, bearded opener Abdullah Khan struck six fours while scoring 40 off 28 balls during a second wicket stand worth 86 with Tariq.
Aftab Memorial, in reply, crashed to 119 all out in 22.5 overs.
