LAHORE, Dec 4: Don Bosco Club faced stiff opposition before beating Bishop Club 71-68 in the Lahore Ramazan-ul-Mubarak Inter- club basketball tournament Super League at the Cathedral School II courts on Monday night.
In other match, Brothers Club registered a smooth 79-47 win over New Age Club.
Bishop Club had conceded a wide margin lead of 24-42 at the half time, but gave a resolute fight in the second session and lost the match by a slim margin of three points (68-71). Once Bishop Club had made it 66-all due to fine play by Pervez Younis and Zahid Anthony.
Younis scored five three-pointer while Anthony who scored 20 points in the match, made 12 points only in the second half. But their efforts were foiled by Don Bosco’s Ali Naseer who kept the point scoring spree and contributed 30 points.
Usman Butt (15), Saman Mahboob (11) and Abdur Rahman (10) were the other chief scorers.
For the losing club, Pervez Younis scored 23 points while Zahid Anthony made 20. Sheeraz Murtaza (12) was the other who touched the double figure.
Airaj Gull scored 34 points to help Brothers Club to beat New Age Club by big margin 79-47. Gull stole the limelight as Aasim Kazmi (13), Jawad Amin (11) and Ishaq Raju (7) were the only other key scorers.
For New Age Club, Kamran Munwar (12) and Zafar (10) fought hard.
