Atif’s hat trick sinks Brad and Butter

LAHORE, Dec 4: Seasoned campaigner Atif Yar Tiwana struck six goals, including a hat trick to enable Millat Tractors to muster a 8-4 win against a strong Brad and Butter in the Local Polo Cup tournament at the Lahore Club ground Tuesday.

In other match, four goals by Faaiz Rahim Khan and three by Feroze Gulzar awarded Cherat Cement a convincing 11 goals to 4 1/2 margin win against Ejaz Spinning.

Atif was in brilliant form and completed his hat trick in the second chukker. Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana added two goals for Millat Tractors. Brad and Butter’s pivot Shah Shamyl Alam scored three goals while Hasan Raza Gillani chipped in with one goal.

Nawaz Tiwana drew first blood in the first chukker, scoring a field goal. Soon, Atif doubled the lead scoring his first goal on solo field efforts.

Brad and Butter scored the first goal through Shamyl Alam who converted a 30 yarder. But the offensive Malik Atif Yar Tiwana  again increased the lead (3-1) by converting a 60  yarder before the first chukker closed.

Atif completed his hat trick in the second chukker by scoring two back-to-back  goals, crowning field efforts and extended the lead 5-1. Minutes later, Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana scored his second goal to make it 6-1. Shah Shamyl Alam again  came  to the rescue of his team and scored his second goal which reduced the margin 2-6 at the end of the second chukker.

The third chukker saw, Atif Yar Tiwana scoring his fifth goal which proved the solitary goal of that chukker and made it 7-2.

In the fourth chukker, Shamyl Alam cashed in on a field attempt to score his final third goal, but soon Atif Yar mustered his sixth goal converting a spot penalty to maintain a big margin lead  8-3. Minutes before the hooters, Hasan Raza Gillani  scored the consolation fourth goal for the Brad and Butter but only to lose the match 4-8.

The combination of Faaiz Rahim Khan and Feroze Gulzar helped Cherat Cement to carve out a big margin victory against Ejaz Spinning who were playing with the advantage of one and a half goal on the handicap. Their teammate Agha Murtaza and Shah Qubilai Alam scored two goals each.

For Ejaz Spinning, Raja Amir Khan, Malik Asad Hayat and Azam Noor scored one goal each.

The first chukker was full of thrills as Cherat Cement came out with a commanding lead of 5-2 and a half. Feroze Gulzar and Faaiz Rahim scored two goal each while Agha Murtaza scored one goal. For Ejaz Spinning Raja Amir Khan scored one goal.

In the second chukker, Malik Asad Hayat scored a goal for Ejaz Spinning for a score of 3 1/2 to 5. But Feroze Gulzar and Faiz Rahim added one goal each to further extend the lead to 7-3 1/2 by the close of the second chukker.

In the third chukker, Agha Murtaza scored his second goal while Shah Qublai Alam his first which gave Cherat Cement a lead of 9-3 1/2. Faiz Rahim scored his fourth goal in the fourth chukker  before Azam  Noor struck for the losers which made the score 10-4 and  a half in favour of Cherat Cement. Shah Qublai Alam converted a 60 yarder to score his second and also the last goal of the match.
