BAJAUR, Dec 4: The political administration of Bajaur Agency has directed different religious organizations and tribal elders to close their private radio stations functioning in different areas of the agency, within two days.
A political activist Mohammad Saleem Khan told Dawn on Monday, that locals and religious organizations were running illegal radio stations in the area.
Answering a question, he said the police had raided and sealed three radio stations one month back, but no action was taken against the responsible people to avert any law and order situation in the prevailing uncertain circumstances.
He said, but this time the government would spare no effort to close the radio channels which were broadcasting baseless propaganda against the government.
Some seven private FM radio stations are functioning in different areas of the agency and its broadcast can be listened to in a radius of 80 kilometres, including some parts of Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province.
