HYDERABAD, Dec 4: The supreme council and central body of Sindh Employees Alliance (SEA) at a joint meeting held in Kotri on Monday night rejected the invitation of the Sindh secretary education for holding a dialogue on the ground that due to the unrealistic policies of the secretary, the alliance had demanded his transfer and, therefore, holding talks with him was illogical.

The chairman of the alliance, Intezar Hussain Chhalgari presided over the meeting which was of the opinion that since the secretary education had not extended the invitation in writing, therefore, the offer of talks was meaningless.

The meeting said that a day before the scheduled meeting, the education department had published news that the meeting was being held at the request of teachers’ organisations.

It said that the news were absolutely false and part of psychological propaganda.

The meeting was of the opinion that after the publication of such news, the question of holding a dialogue with the education secretary did not arise.

It resolved that if any dialogue was held, it will be only with the Sindh education minister, chief secretary and the governor.

The meeting decided that a white paper will be published against the anti-education and anti-teachers policies of the education secretary.

It resolved to continue struggle for the acceptance of charter of demands of the alliance.

However, it decided to end the boycott of schools and lock- out of educational institutions in the larger interest of education, students, parents, and the nation.

The meeting also decided to set up bodies of the alliance in the remaining districts before Eid by holding the district conventions.

According to schedule, these conventions will be held in Hyderabad, Dadu and Nawabshah on December 10, 11 and 12 respectively.

A committee, comprising Prof Liaquat Aziz, Ghulam Mustafa Soho, Haji Nazar Nizamani, Mubarak Ali Kaimkhani, Zulfiqar Shaikh and Darya Khan Jamali, was constituted to hold the conventions of Badin, Thatta, Sanghar and Tharparkar districts.

The meeting decided to hold central convention of the alliance on December 24 at Hyderabad, which will be attended by the members of the central body, central supreme council and office bearers of the affiliated organizations.

The meeting also decided to stage protest sit-in outside the governor house on January 15.

BOYCOTT: On the call of Sindh Teachers Ittehad, primary, middle and secondary schools in Hyderabad, and adjoining towns remained closed on the ninth consecutive day on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman is reported to have invited the teachers for a dialogue on Wednesday to end the deadlock.
