LARKANA, Dec 3: The Larkana police have launched an anti-dacoits operation in the kutcha area and exchanged heavy fire with dacoits in the woods of Sadho forest.
The special teams constituted for this purpose are in hunt for the deadly dacoit Nazroo Narijo. He allegedly leads a gang of 21 bandits, police sources said, adding that its area of operation remains within 20 kms from Shahani to Akil ferry point.
The special police team led by sub-inspector Imdad Bhutto reached the main hideout of Nazroo Narijo and set it ablaze. The gang leader along with his associates had reportedly left for another shelter, sources said.
Police reinforcement had been sent into the forest. Larkana police have started constructing 96 police pickets alongside the River Indus in the 46 kilometres long katcha area falling in its limits so as to tighten the noose around the dacoits.
These pickets would be manned by a group of five to 10 trained police commandos. Presently five gangs are active in Larkana having a strength of around 44 and most of them operate from the katcha area.
