PESHAWAR, Dec 3: An accountability court on Monday ordered release of a land acquisition collector, Attock, Sheikh Ijaz, after he agreed to pay Rs2.2 million to the National Accountability Bureau.

A special prosecutor of NAB informed the court, presided over by Syed Yahya Zahid Gillani, that the NAB chairman had accepted the plea bargain of the accused and they had no objection against his release.

The accused was arrested in connection with Ghazi Barotha land acquisition scam in which a number of individuals have already been arrested.

The accused would pay Rs 0.77 million in advance and rest of the amount would be paid in two instalments.
