Afghans urged to unite under Zahir Shah

QUETTA, Dec 2: President Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party Mehmood Khan Achakzai has asked all the Afghan factions to shun their difference and unite under the leadership of former King Zahir Shah.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Sunday in connection with the death anniversary of the party founder late Abdul Samad Achakzai, he advised the Afghan groups to support for convening of the Loya Jirga for installing a broad-based government that could lead their war-ravaged country to reconstruction and progress.

He said the 23 years of war has ruined Afghanistan and it was high time for all Afghan factions to unite in the larger interest of their countrymen who desperately long for peace.

Mehmood Khan said that Zahir Shah is the only personality who is above any controversy and can lead his country to a better future.—APP
