Two-wicket triumph for Omer CC
KARACHI, Dec 2: Omer CC beat Deewan CC by two wickets in the A.O. Floodlight Trophy played at the Ali Asghar Stadium under floodlights.
Deewan CC having first use of the wicket were skittled out for 97 runs in 19.2 overs with Asif Zakir top scoring for his side with 37 runs. Medium paceman Faisal Mirza 3/16 and left-arm spinner Badar Ahmed 2/16, were responsible for the debacle.
Needing only 98 runs for victory, Omer CC had their own share of troubles as wickets began to fall at regular intervals when they went in to bat.
However, Afsar Nawaz (25) and Rashid Hanif (21), pulled their team out of the woods. Spinners Fahim Ahmed 3/17 and Warasat Hussain 2/18, almost bowled their team to victory.
In another encounter Professionals Gymkhana easily beat Honoroal CC by 49 runs.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Professionals Gymkhana finally hit the winning spot after a few matches lost in the other Ramazan tournaments, scoring 164 for eight in their 20 overs.
Younus Khan (39) with six boundaries, Rashid Latif (36 n.o.) with four boundaries and Naveed Lateef (32) with five powerfully struck fours were instrumental in seeing their side reach a respectable total.
Honoroal CC at their turn at the wicket could only muster up 115 for seven and were beaten 39 runs. Nazim Wahab scored 30 and Jawed Ahmed (25). Fahad Maqsood bagged 3/21 for the winners.
