SIALKOT, Dec 2: Dacoits on Saturday night took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs1 million in two strikes in Pasrur tehsil.

Three dacoits barged into the house of landlord Inayat Ali Bajwa, held up the inmates and made off with cash, jewellery, a TV set and a VCR worth Rs600,000 in Paraagpur village.

The bandits also beat the women on resistance before fleeing.

In Ratta Arayiaan village, five dacoits took away cash, jewellery and electronics worth Rs400,000 from landlord Muhammad Shabbir’s house.

Police have registered separate cases.

SHELLING: The Chenab Rangers late on Saturday thwarted another major Indian attempt of fencing Chhumb and Joriyaan sectors of the Sialkot working boundary.

Official sources said Indians on Sunday continued intensified firing in Chhumb, Joriyaan, Bajwat, Sucheetgarh, Charwa, Harpal and Shakargarh sectors, leaving two goats dead.

At least nine more houses were damaged while harvesting of paddy remained disrupted for the 17th consecutive day, they added.

The sources claimed there was no let-up in firing between the Rangers and Indian forces in all the sectors till last reports came in.

IT SECRETARY: Punjab Information Technology secretary Saeed Alvi visited various Ramazan bazaars here on Sunday.

He examined the prices of products of daily use and directed the local administration to ensure provision of essential items at subsidized rates.
