SUKKUR, Nov 30: Five persons were injured when police batoncharged a protest rally taken out by Abro Ittehad against Taluka Nazim, Mumtaz Jakhrani, in Jacobabad on Friday.

Later, police arrested a retired Deputy Superintendent of Customs Aziz Abro on the charge of intervening in the official duty of Mukhtiarkar Jacobabad and anti-encroachment staff of Jacobabad Municipal Committee.

According to sources, protestors gathered at Adam Road on Friday morning and raised slogans against the Naib Nazim and other officials of the district.

They alleged that these officials were involved in perpetrating excesses against Aziz Abro at the behest of taluka Nazim. They said that they were being victimised as Aziz Abro had opposed both the Nazim and Naib Nazim in the elections.

It may be recalled that on Thursday on the order of the DCO Jacobabad anti-encroachment staff of Jacobabad Municipal Committee along with Mukhtiarkar raided the showroom of Aziz Abro and demolished a bathroom of the showroom, which they said was an encroachment.

Aziz Abro and his friends tried to resist their attempt. However, extra force was summoned and structure was demolished.
