QUETTA, Nov 30: No al-Qaeda fighter or Taliban soldier was arrested by the Balochistan Police during recent fighting in Afghanistan.

This was stated by Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Quetta Range, Humayun Jogezai, at an Iftar-Dinner on Friday.

He told newsmen that no Arab fighter made any attempt to cross over to Pakistan. “No one was arrested,” he said emphatically.

When asked about the arrest of four Yemeni women by the police, he said they were caught for their illegal entry into Pakistan. They possessed no valid travel documents.

He said they had been booked under the Foreigners Act, a law prohibiting entry of foreign nationals into Pakistan without possessing valid travel papers.

Such prisoners, he said, “are normally interrogated about their intentions and illegal stay in Pakistan’’.

Unless they are cleared by the security agencies, they are tried in the courts of law and punished accordingly.”

He said no body of Taliban or Arab fighter had been brought to Quetta. Similarly, he denied knowledge of any Taliban injured being brought to Quetta for treatment.
