Car retrieved from bandits

SAHIWAL, Nov 30: Bandits on Friday drove away with a district council former member’s car in Farid Town.

Muzaffar Shah Gogi, along with his gunman, was on his way to a bazaar when five bandits intercepted them near PPP leader Chaudhry Naurez Shakoor’s house. They drove away with his car (SLK-533) at gunpoint.

On receiving information, police chased the culprits and recovered the vehicle after bursting one of its tyres near Chak 46/GD. However, the bandits managed to escape in another car.

KILLED: A Wapda lineman was killed while another sustained injuries in a road accident here on Friday.

A motorcycle-rickshaw, carrying passengers, on its way back to the city knocked down a bicycle, leaving its rider Ghulam Rasool dead. Injured Muhammad Rafiq was admitted to the DHQ Hospital in precarious condition.

Rickshaw driver Shahid also sustained injuries.

DISTRICT COUNCIL: As many as 35 nominations were made for three markets in Sahiwal, Chichawatni and Kassowal under the chair of convener Naib Nazim Malik Muhammad Yar Dhakoo.

The opposition boycotted its leader Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf. Ruling party members Sadar Din Khagga and Malik Faisal Langrial tried to reconcile with the opposition but without success.

The meeting approved the resolution to approach the government for provision of Rs4.5 million rupees for checking erosion in the Ravi near Dadra Bala village.
