KARACHI, Nov. 29: An official of Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Thursday questioned the criterion of the selection of Pakistan under-19 squad for the Junior World Cup in New Zealand in January-February.
In a statement here executive council member of KCCA Munir Ali Qadri strongly criticized the selection committee for ignoring several promising players from Karachi.
He urged Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt.Gen. Tauqir Zia for reviewing the national team in the larger interest of the country.
He said selection committee headed by Zaheer Abbas overlooked talented Karachi players including batsmen Khalid Latif, Ariz Kamal, Atif Ali Zaidi, all-rounder Wajid Ali and pacer Tabish Khan which was great injustice to them.
He said all these boys gave fine performances in National under-19 cricket tournament.
He suggested that idea of conducting a three-match one-day series of announced Pakistan team with the Karachi team so that calibre of the selected players could be ascertained.
Incidentally only two Karachi boys, off- spinner Irfanuddin and wicket-keeper batsman Amin-ur-Rehman were among the 14-member squad named by PCB selection committee.—APP
