Shafqat snatches superb hat trick

LAHORE, Nov 29: Shafqat scored a fine hat trick to take YoungstersClub to a convincing 5-0 win over Pak Hockets in the Ramazan-ul-Mubarak hockey tournament at the National Hockey Stadium (NHS) on Thursday.

In other matches of the day, Ittehad Club (Manga Mandi) beat Tariq Club 3-1 and Shaheen Club defeated Pakistan Mint also 5-0.

Two more matches of the tournament will be held on Friday.

Pak Union Club will play against Mohammedan Club at 2:15 pm while MAO College will meet Ideal Club at 3:15 pm.

Besides the three goals of Shafqat which formed the hat-trick, Sarfarzand Majid Qaiser scored one goal, each for Youngsters Club, while Pak Hockets could not score even once. HaiderRasool and Syed Waqar Naqvi supervised the match.

For Ittehad Club, Tariq

Butt, Muhammad Sarwar and Qamar Zaman scored a goal each.

The only goal of the losing Tariq Club was put in by Nadeem Ahmad. Mian Ubaid-ur-Rahman and Dilawar Husain Bhatti umpired the match.

Asif Pervaiz scored three goals to facilitate Shaheen Club’s winover Pakistan Mint Club. Aqeel Husain and Nadeem Iqbal also scored one goal, each.

Pakistan Mint side could not score any goal. Muhammad Mushtaq and Rana Liaqat Ali were the umpires of this match.
