‘Forward block’ in tehsil council

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Nov 29: Some two dozen members of the tehsil city council’s treasury group belonging to the PML-QA formed a separate ‘Haq group’ here on Thursday.

Reportedly, 25 union council Naib Nazims held their separate meeting on the occasion of the tehsil council meeting at the municipal complex and decided to form a separate group.

They alleged that the tehsil city Nazim and the Naib Nazim were providing every facility to their ‘own men’ ignoring the rest of the treasury members.

They claimed that more members would join their group, and that they would fight for their rights without accepting any pressure from the ruling party. The rebel members later formed a four-member committee to contact other treasury members to bring them into their fold.

Meanwhile, the tehsil city council session gave an approval of various items of the agenda, including sanitary workers affairs and the development plan.

The meeting was presided over by tehsil city council Naib Nazim Chaudhry Ehsanullah.

On the other hand, all the minority members of the district council tendered their resignations from various sub-committees, alleging that the treasury group was ignoring them.

POWER THIEVES: A joint raiding team of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company caught some 31 power thieves red-handed stealing electricity here on Thursday.

On a tip off, a Gepco team raided Model Town, Civil Line, Sialkot Road and other parts of the city and caught power thieves stealing electricity for domestic and commercial purpose.

The raiding team also removed their meters and issued them ‘detection bills’ of Rs2.1 million.

Power thieves were stealing electricity with the help of modern equipment which was also recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile, about two dozen power thieves were caught in Hafizabad.
