MULTAN, Nov 29: Bandits on Thursday deprived three Sun Rise textile mill employees of Rs3 million in Hassan arcade, cantonment.
Allah Ditta, Rahim Bakhsh and Taj Muhammad were on their way back after withdrawing Rs3 million from a bank in Hassan Arcade when three bandits snatched the cash from them at gunpoint. They fled in a car.
Cantonment police have registered a case.
SHOT DEAD: Two persons, including a woman, were shot dead in Muzaffarabad Colony on Thursday.
Police said Ruqaya was living with her husband Ramzan in her father Zafar Ali’s house at Fatool Pur for the last two years.
On Thursday, Zafar’s brother Jaffar found Ruqaya with her cousin Iqbal in objectionable condition. He opened fire on the two, leaving them dead.
Police have arrested Jaffar and are investigating.
SUICIDE: A man committed suicide here on Thursday.
According to Setal Mari police, the man lied on a railway track and the Chenab Express ran over him near Shah Rukn-i-Alam Colony.
The body was sent to mortuary for autopsy.
REJECTED: The Lahore High Court, Multan Bench, on Thursday dismissed two petitions challenging the constitution of new market committee, Leiah district, reports APP.
Justice Nazir Ahmad Siddiqi found no case established on the basis of material made available on the file.
Petitioners Irfanul Haq and Ghulam Shabbir had challenged the notification issued by Leiah district Naib Nazim, according to which, nine members were selected to constitute new market committee for three years on the recommendation of district Nazim.
The petitioners objected that the Naib Nazim was not empowered to issue the notification, the LHC observed he issued the notification as speaker of the house.
They also objected that the Nazim did not consult Extra Assistant Director Agriculture, Growers Association and consumers before recommending names of new members of the market committee. However, documents were produced in support of him, showing that he had consulted the required officials.
The LHC dismissed both the petitions, saying no tehsil in Leiah had proved to be unrepresented in the market committee panel.
