KARACHI: People urge repairs of busy roads

KARACHI, Nov 29: Residents of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Block 13, have expressed their concern over the inordinate delay in the construction of the thoroughfares in the area, dug up some six months back for laying new water supply and sewage lines under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme.

They regretted that the network of these more than 100 feet wide and well-carpeted streets, from Hasan Square to Hasan Apartments (Extension), extensively used by people, had emerged as a series of small mounds and an unlevelled tract, almost impassable. This may also cause accidents besides damaging the vehicles moving on it.

More pathetic is perhaps the plight of the pedestrians, who due to disappearance of footpaths and conversion of roadsides into garbage dumps, are compelled to use the kutcha and unlevelled passage.

Often due to reckless driving, they also complain that their clothes and bodies get dirty by the blowing dust.

Residents complain that despite reminders dispatched to the councillor concerned, no measure has been adopted to steer out of the situation, effecting them individually as well as at community level.—APP
