KARACHI, Nov 29: The proposed Karachi building bylaws are being vetted at the law department of the Sindh government and hopefully the draft laws will be submitted to the Sindh governor within a month for approval, said the secretary housing and town planning at the 9th meeting of the KDA’s governing body here on Thursday.

The GB meeting was presided over by the Chief Secretary, Javed Ashraf Husain, and attended by Education Minister Anita Ghulam Ali, Nazim Naimatullah Khan, the DG KDA, Mazhar Ali, Maqbool Rahmatullah and others.

The director Master Plan informed the governing body that a survey with regard to the commercialization policy had been completed. Detailed exchange of views had been held with NGOs and now the views of those to be affected were being obtained after which the draft policy would be presented before the governing body the next month.

The GB chairman directed that the policy should be submitted before the GB by Dec 26 so that it could be enforced after its approval.

The meeting decided to extend the period of service of the Secretary KDA, Major Rasheed Ahmed.

The GB decided that shops in the KDA’s projects of the North Nazimabad Apartments, Korangi Civic Centre, Surjani Town and Quaidabad would be disposed of by auction.—APP
