KARACHI, Nov 29: The Institute of Business Administration(IBA) Karachi is “compelled” to announce fee increase due to a number of programmes being undertaken to enhance the academic quality at the institution.
This was stated by director of the IBA, Prof Dr Javed Ashra on Thursday.
He, however, said that the IBA’s policy remained that no meritorious student in financial need would be denied admission or continuation of his studies.
It was also pointed out that the IBA had also made a generous provision of loans in its budget.
He said that the IBA has embarked on a major programme to enhance the quality of education; a large number of new full-time faculty members have been hired.
It was further stated that the other major expenses include IBA’s Centre for Computer Studies which is spending Rs3.3 million on the acquisition of new computers and the upgrading existing ones. A number of multi-media projectors have also been purchased.
A new office block will be constructed with a cost of Rs3.5 million. Auditorium at both the campuses will be renovated at a cost of Rs3 million.
The acquisition of library books this year is expected to cost approximately Rs2 million.
The IBA is also planning a major renovation of its hostel.
Faster internet access at both the campuses has already been provided at a cost of Rs140,000 a month.—APP
