Tiwanas share scoring honours

LAHORE, Nov 28: Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana scored four goals, including a hat trick, and Malik Atif Yar Tiwana struck thrice to guide Millat Tractors to an emphatic win by 9-1 1/2 over Shaheen Insurance in the Ali Akbar polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Wednesday.

Shah Shamyl Alam scored three goals to take Merry Max to a 7-3 win over Deutsche Bank (DB) in other match of the day.

Shaheen Insurance enjoyed one-and-a-half goals’ advantage on the handicap and none of its players could add any goal during play. The Millat Tractors quartet struck one after the other to outplay the opposing side.

During the first chukker, Atif scored three goals while  Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana and Kamran Nooruddin struck once, each. Atif’s first two goals were also on field efforts but his last goal was scored on  a 30 yards penalty-hit. Millat Tractors led by five goals  to 5-1 1/2 at end of the first chukker.

The only field goal of the second chukker was put in by Adnan Lone with an angular shot.

Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana scored his second and third chukker’s  only goal also on a field effort.

Both the goals of the fourth chukker were scored by Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana, who crowned field efforts. His first one completed his hat-trick.

In the other match of the day, Bilal Haye scored only goal  of the first chukker on a field effort for Merry Max.

Shamyl scored first and third goal of the second chukker for Merry Max and in between Captain Azhar Ali converted a 30 yards penalty-hit for Deutsche Bank. Shamyl scored his first goal on a spot penalty near the goalpost and second one on a field effort. Merry Max led 3-1 at conclusion of the second chukker.

Syed Hasan Raza Gillani scored his only goal for Merry Max at start of the third chukker on a field effort. Sufi Muhammad Amir crowned a solo effort to score Deutsche Bank’s second goal.

Shamyl scored  his third and Merry Max’s fifth goal on a field effort. Merry Max led 5-2 at end of the third chukker.

Captain Azhar Ali scored his second and Deutsche Bank’s third goal at start of the fourth chukker. Thereafter, Merry Max scored two  goals to gain a win. Bilal Haye scored his second and  Merry Max’s sixth goal and Lt.-Col. Talha Saeed scored his only goal on a field effort. That was Merry Max’s seventh goal.
