LAHORE, Nov 28: Fresh from two victories in ITF Futures tournaments, Aisam Ul Haq, will be aiming to repeat the same feat when he plays in the ATP Challenger in Bangkok, next week.

Pakistan number one tennis player from PIA won two big tournaments in as many weeks, in Vietnam and Thailand, to bring glory for the country at a time when Pakistan stands nowhere in major sports including hockey and cricket.

“I feel much confident after my recent victories and I am looking forward to do better in the ATP Challenger”, he told the media on Wednesday from Thailand where he is attending a training programme under the supervision of a British coach.

Aisam from PIA, ranked 230th in the ATP list, said his ultimate objective is to reach the top 100 in the world ranking.

Injuries and fitness problems restricted the young Pakistani player to progress ahead in the ATP ranking last year and now he has overcome these problems which is evident from his showing in the international tournaments.

After playing in Thailand , Aisam will return home for a few days and will fly to India to play in the ATP Championship in Chennai in the first week of January next year.Aisam will have to appear in the qualifying rounds

Aisam will then feature in the Australian Open being played in Melbourne in mid of January.—APP
