Secretariat staff call off strike


QUETTA, Nov 28: Balochistan government accepted a number of demands of the civil secretariat employees here on Tuesday, provincial Finance Minister Malik Naeem Ahmed announced at a gathering of the employees. The staff announced to end their week-long strike.

The accepted demands include, raising the utility allowance of non-gazetted staff to Rs1,000, 20 per cent special allowance for Provincial Inspection Team employees, provision of two minibuses for the staff, increase in the medicine budget of the secretariat’s dispensary and recommissioning of the cafeteria.

The remaining 50 per cent honorarium dues for the employees and the secretariat’s sports fund have been released and the work plan of mosque approved. The Photostat machine operator allowance has been increased from Rs30 to Rs100.

The minister agreed to look into the demand to provide alternative land to the retired and deceased employees in place of the Chashma Achozai land.

Regarding the demand to increase the grade of the security guards and payment of overtime, he asked the Secretariat Staff Association to gather information from other provinces.—APP
