Veteran Ilyas shines

KARACHI, Nov 26: Former first-class cricketer Ilyas Khan captured four for 25 to help Opera CC defeat Rangers CC by a narrow margin of six runs in the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan cricket tournament at AKG Ground here Monday.

Off-spinner Ilyas’s devastating spell turned the tide in Opera CC’s favour as Rangers CC were dismissed for 153 off the penultimate delivery of the match. Skipper Anis-ur-Rehman gave a fine all-round performance by taking two for 35 with his off-spinners to follow his knock of 25.

Earlier, Opera CC made 159 for eight in their 25 overs. Asif Khan hit two sixes and as many fours in making 48. Asif Akhtar hit 38. They were five run-outs in the Opera CC’s innings.
