Dazzling display by Hanif

KARACHI, Nov 26: Tapal CC scored a comfortable six-wicket victory over Pak Gymkhana in a Group ‘A’ match of the Paragon Cup 2001 Ramazan cricket tournament at UBL Sports Complex here Monday.

Opener Hanif-ur-Rehman, named Man-of-the-Match, was the architect with a knock 62 off just 35 deliveries as Tapal CC reached 145 for four in 17.1 overs. He stroked four sixes and as many fours. Opener Hasan Arshad blasted six boundaries in his 16-ball 29.

Off-spinner Talha Toor claimed three for 39.

Earlier, Pak Gymkhana, who had won the toss, were restricted to 142 for eight in their 25 overs. Skipper Mahmood Hamid top-scored with 45 off 53 balls with a solitary boundary.

Slow left-armer Kamran Omer captured three for 28. He received good support from medium-pacer Rizwan Saeed (two for 29) and Nomanullah (two for 34).
