Aisam storms into final

LAHORE, Nov 26: Pakistan’ Aisam-ul-Haq moved into final of the ITF Futures tennis championship, defeating Toshihide Matsui of Japan in straight sets at 6-2, 6-4 at the hard court of Hotay Club in Hanoi, according to a facsimile message received Monday. In the final, Aisam will play against Yen Hsun Lu of Taiwan.

Aisam secured his very first service game by hitting four aces in-a-row. Aisam hit powerful cross-court winners on Matsui’s serves to get an early break. Aisam took only 25 minutes to win the first set at 6-2.

Aisam easily broke Matsui’s serve at 4-4 and won the second set at 6-4 in 35 minutes to also clinch the semifinal. Aisam hit seven aces.

Aisam had won both the singles and doubles events of this championship in the year 2000 but this time he is competing in the singles only.

In the international men’s career this will be Aisam’s 24th final. He has played at places like Japan, Greece, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, France, England and Czech Republic up till now.
