LAHORE, Nov 26: On opening day of Ali Akbar polo tournament, Bilal Haye scored five goals including a hat trick, to fetch Merry Max a convincing 9-5 win over KPC/Getz Pharma at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground Monday.

In another match of the contest, Husain Iftikhar struck thrice to take Power Soft to a six goals to 6-2 1/2 win over Garrison Polo Club.

KPC/Getz Pharma side enjoyed two goals advantage on the handicap and could scored three goals during play. Bilal scored first and fifth goals of the first chukker on field efforts. Kashif Jamal scored a field goal for the losing side while its Hamid Ali converted a spot penalty near the goalpost. Shamyl scored first of his two goals on a 40 yards penalty-hit. The losing side led 4-3 at conclusion of the first chukker.

All three goals of second chukker were scored by Bilal in succession and his second one completed his hat trick. On all three occasions, Bilal crowned field efforts. Merry Max side gained a 6-4 lead at conclusion of this chukker.

Both teams scored one goal, each during third chukker. Hamid Ali converted a 40 yards penalty-hit for the losing side while Shamyl also converted a 40 yards penalty-hit for Merry Max to put in his second and his team’s seventh goal. Merry Max led 7-5 at conclusion of the third chukker.

Lt.-Col. Talha Saeed scored both goals of the fourth chukker on field efforts to give Merry Max the 9-5 win.

Garrison Polo Club enjoyed one-and-a-half goals’ advantage on the handicap and put in only one field goal through Amanat in the first chukker. Before that Umer Sadik had scored his only goal for Power Soft, converting a 60 yards penalty-hit. Garrison Club led 2 1/2-1 at end of the first chukker.

Only goal of second chukker was scored by Husain Iftikhar on a field effort for Power Soft.

Both goals of the third chukker were scored by Jamal Iftikhar for Power Soft.

Husain Iftikhar scored both the field goals of the fourth chukker to earn a convincing 6-2 1/2 win for Power Soft side.
