ANP to evolve new line of action today

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Nov 26: The central committee of Awami National Party (ANP) is holding a meeting at a local hotel here on Tuesday to chalk out its future line of action amid fast changing national and regional situation.

Central information secretary of the ANP, Haji Mohammad Adeel has said that the central committee would discuss the situation and take policy decisions on the issues, said a Press release issued here on Tuesday.

PALIJO:The chief of Sindh Awami Tehrik, Rasool Bakhsh Palijo, called on ANP’s Rehbar-i-Tehrik Abdul Wali Khan at his Wali Bagh residence on Monday and discussed matters of national and regional interests with him.

The two leaders discussed Afghan conflict and the developments in the region. Other national issues also came under discussion at the meeting.

Party’s provincial president Begum Nasim Wali Khan,  Haji Mohammad Adeel and Multan’s prominent social worker Sarwar Bari also attended the meeting.

CANADIAN ENVOY:Mr Paul M. Gareau, a Canadian envoy, who is on a special mission to Pakistan, held a meeting with ANP’s central secretary information Haji Mohammad Adeel at his the latter’s residence here on Monday.

The meeting discussed various problems being facing by Pakistan in the wake of developments in Afghanistan, said a Press release.

Criticizing the western media for its attempts to mislead the world community on the percentage of Pakhtoon population, Haji Adeel claimed that the Pakhtoons were 70 to 75 per cent of the total population of Afghanistan.

He said as the ground was being prepared for a broad-based government in Afghanistan, the western media was projecting much lesser proportion of Pakhtoon population. First, it was being put at 68 per cent, which was lowered to 60 per cent, Adeel said, adding that even the CNN put it at 40 per cent in one of its recent reports.

He informed the Canadian envoy that the attempt to show less number of Pakhtoons was aimed at depriving the majority of their rights, which would create hurdles in the way of a popular government in Kabul.
