THATTA, Nov 25: Hundreds of cricket fans and citizens witnessed a dreadful drama staged by the Sujawal police as their SHO tortured and forced a suspect to parade naked during an interrupted night cricket match at a local cricket ground near degree college Sujawal in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

Witnesses said that SHO Sujawal Sadiq Solangi with six constables diverted the attention of the crowd by escorting a stripped accused ruthlessly torturing him in public.

On inquiry, the police said that the young suspect was roaming near the taluka hospital with his two accomplices with ‘ill intention’ and was spotted by the police motorcycle squad.

After being chased, two of them fled as the police caught hold of Khuda Bux Chang and ‘recovered’ a TT pistol from his possession, the police added.

Meanwhile, probably to prove its might in public, the police beat up the suspect so mercilessly that blood started oozing out of his wounds. The police also forced him to parade with his hands tied behind.

After the arrival of DSP Asif Jafri, the police escorted away the suspect beating him with kicks and butts and drove to the police station in a mobile.

Several attempts were made to seek the DSP’s version which remained.

When contacted, SHO Sadiq Solangi said that the suspect was a criminal and resisting his arrest and quarrelled with the the police. He and his two accomplices were residents of Goongri and were roaming in the town to commit crime, the SHO claimed.
