Call to set up dryport

By Our Correspondent

BAHAWALPUR, Nov 25: The local district council, during a meeting on Saturday, demanded the government that a dryport should be set up in the district for the convenience of importers and exporters.

The council urged the government to recover agriculture loans from landlords in easy instalments.

It also asked for the introduction of a shuttle train service between Bahawalpur and Samasatta for the benefit of male and female students of Samasatta and other adjoining rural areas.

Bahawalpur should be upgraded into a central place for the internet users.

The council approved mega projects of sewerage for the cities of Bahawalpur, Ahmadpur East and Hasilpur, costing a sum of Rs250 million.

District Nazim Tariq Cheema said Rs46 million would be spent on these projects during the current year.

Meanwhile, DIG Ghulam Qadir Mahar, during a meeting with the police officials, said there would be no more delay in arrest of church massacre culprits. The meeting also discussed security arrangements in Ramazan.
