LAHORE: Rs212m for 430 schools

LAHORE, Nov 25: The Punjab Education Department (PED) has provided Rs212 million for the establishment of computer rooms and science laboratories and development work in 430 schools is in progress across the province.

This was told by Second Science Project director Mian Bashir Ahmad while inaugurating the newly-constructed science laboratory at the Government Girls High School Township here on Sunday. He said that the target of 50 per cent development work of computer and science laboratories would be achieved by the end of December this year whereas the rest of 50 per cent work would be completed by June 30, 2002.

He disclosed that 248 computer rooms and 252 multi-purpose science laboratories were being set up in 430 schools which would provide the facilities of the latest education to at least 50,000 students yearly who afterward would be able to earn their livelihood with honour. He said that teachers of computer and science were also being trained by competent and efficient teaching staff.—APP
